Subscriptions & Billing

I paid, but the app still shows the paywall. What now?

Easy to fix. Here's what to do:

  1. 1Open the Profile tab in the app.
  2. 2Tap Restore purchases.
  3. 3Make sure the iPhone is signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you paid with.

Tip: New phone or a different Apple Account? That's usually why. Restore purchases on the new device and you're set.

Is Calkub free?

Yes. The free plan never expires and needs no card or payment method.

  • Searching and logging from the food database is free forever and never locked.
  • The free plan includes a daily allowance of AI photo scans.
  • Calkub Premium makes scanning unlimited.

How much is Calkub Premium?

Prices will be announced when Calkub launches on the App Store. They'll be in baht and billed only through Apple.

Tip: No subscription is on sale yet, so nobody can be charged.

How do I cancel my subscription or free trial?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, so we can't cancel one for you. Two ways to do it:

  • iPhone: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Calkub → Cancel Subscription.
  • In the app: Profile tab → Manage or cancel subscription.

Heads up: Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the next period to avoid renewal.

I want a refund. How do I get one?

Apple bills every Calkub subscription and decides refunds under Apple's terms. We never see your payment details, so we can't issue one ourselves.

Tip: Sign in with the Apple Account you paid with. Your Calkub receipt email comes from Apple.

Food Tracking & Scanning

The app scanned my food wrong. It thinks my meal is something else

Every figure is an estimate, and the app shows the range it could fall in. A few things help a lot:

  • Good light makes a big difference. Daylight or a bright room works best.
  • Get the whole plate in frame, close enough that the food fills it.
  • Type the dish name or a hint, such as “less sweet” or “no coconut milk”.
  • Tap Fix result to pick the right dish or adjust the numbers before saving.

Still off? Tell us and choose “Wrong calorie estimate”.

Where do Calkub's numbers come from?

194 Thai dishes, each with a named source:

  • 143: laboratory-analysed values from Mahidol University's Institute of Nutrition (INMU) Thai food composition database.
  • 19: a lab study of real Bangkok delivery portions.
  • 16: Thai on-pack nutrition labels.
  • 14: computed from fully documented component weights, and 2 from USDA data.

Another 149 international dishes come from USDA FNDDS, including Japanese and Korean dishes such as udon, gyudon, bulgogi and kimbap.

Tip: Where a value couldn't be sourced, it's left blank, not guessed.

Can I switch the app's language?

Yes. Every screen works in Thai and English. Switch on the Profile tab and it takes effect immediately, without changing your iPhone's language.

App Issues

The app keeps crashing or won't open

Try these steps:

  1. 1Close the app from the app switcher and open it again.
  2. 2Update Calkub to the latest version and restart your iPhone.

Still crashing? Tell us your iPhone model and iOS version.

Heads up: Don't delete the app to fix it. Your log is stored on your iPhone, and deleting the app deletes it unless iCloud backup is on.

Is there an Android version?

Not at the moment. Calkub is iPhone-only for now.

When can I download Calkub?

Calkub is in testing and coming soon to the App Store. This site will link to it the moment it launches.

Health & Fitness Sync

My workouts aren't showing up in Calkub

  1. 1In the app: Profile tab → Manage Apple Health, and turn on Add back to my daily budget.
  2. 2On your iPhone: Settings → Apps → Health → Data Access & Devices → Calkub, and allow Workouts and Active Energy.

Tip: Data from an Apple Watch can take a few minutes to reach Health, and then Calkub.

What does Calkub do with Apple Health?

Only if you switch it on, Calkub reads today's workouts and active energy to add them back to your daily calorie budget.

  • Calkub never writes anything to Health.
  • Your Health data never leaves your iPhone.

Why is Calkub's BMI different from other apps?

Calkub uses the Thai Ministry of Public Health and WHO Asia-Pacific bands:

  • Overweight from 23 (international: 25).
  • Obese from 25 (international: 30).

Tip: BMI is shown for information only. It doesn't feed your calorie target.

Your Data

Do I need an account?

No. Calkub works fully without an account. Sign in with Apple is optional, and we ask Apple for your name only, never your email.

Where is my data stored?

  • Your meals, targets and settings are stored on your iPhone.
  • With iCloud backup on, they go to your own private iCloud database, which we can't access.
  • Meal photos are never uploaded to iCloud.

How do I delete my data?

  1. 1Delete the app to delete the data on your iPhone.
  2. 2If you used iCloud backup: Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Calkub.

Tip: Sent us a message and want it deleted? Tell us and include its reference.
